Beginner classes:
For those with no Fencing experience. Classes run for 90 minutes for Six weeks on Wednesday’s beginning at 6:00. The sport of fencing is introduced by learning footwork, blade work and basic bouting in a structured class. Participants need to bring long athletic pants, t-shirt, and non-marking athletic shoes (water is also recommended). Fencing equipment will be provided is included in the class fee. These classes prepare participants to be fencers in the Recreational programs.
Recreational:
For those fencers who have some fencing experience or have completed the beginner program. Practices are semi-structured to provide the most enjoyment for all participants. Practices run both Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 10 pm. Participants are encouraged to compete at local (Ontario) tournaments, but by no means is a requirement. Although we have equipment available for rent, participants are encouraged to purchase their own equipment. The goal is to enjoy a lifetime of Fencing.
Youth Recreational:
For fencers 10-13ish in age who wish to concentrate efforts within their own age group, and don’t necessarily wish to play with the “Big kids”. Practices are supervised from 6:30 to 9 pm. The goal is to enjoy the Fencing with peers
Mini-Fence:
For kids 6-10 years old: a fun class to introduce the sport of fencing with the use of Foam swords and plastic masks. The goal of this program is to instill a love of sport and fencing at an early age.
Wheelchair Fencing:
For athletes with a disability. After a successful pilot last year we hope to grow this program by offering beginner instruction as well as integrating our now experienced wheelchair fencers within the recreational program. Classes are running on Mondays beginning at 6:00. Goal is to take enjoy a very adaptable sport.
Advanced:
Competitive or Advanced instruction can be offered to those athletes who wish to train and compete a little more seriously. This is done on an individual basis within the Recreational program through the guidance of our coaches.
