Stratford 2011/12 Programs and Pricing

In order to integrate recent advances in sport science into our programming, and to ensure that we continue to offer the highest quality programs what we can, this year, Excelsior Fencing Club will be aligning all of our activities with the Long-term Athlete Development (LTAD) model.

Cost

Adult/youth: $ 145.00 for 8-week course in certification in Beginner I/II and Intermediate I/II levels (yellow to orange band) Mini-fencing: $ 100.00 for 6 weeks. Recreational: fencers with experience can fence for fun following each class. Monthly fee $35.00. Individual coaching rates as per Excelsior policy and coach availability/match. For insurance purposes, fencers must also join the Ontario Fencing Association ($15 annually)

What Do I need?

We provide all equipment necessary to fence, except non-marking sneakers.

Equipment

We offer the following “Excelsior Package” option for all fencers: Students can buy a custom-fit uniform consisting of: 1 mask (350N); 1 front-zip jacket (350N); 1 plastron; 1 fencing knickers; 1 fencing glove; 1 practice foil weapon; 1 pair of fencing socks; and 1 fencing bag to carry the equipment and uniform. Cost: $220 plus GST/HST.

Sundays at Bedford Public School (59 Bedford Dr, Stratford Ontario) 1 pm to 4 pm

Tuesdays at Bedford Public School (59 Bedford Dr, Stratford Ontario) 7 pm-10 pm

Excelsior KW offers classes Monday and Wednesdays at St Louis Gym (61 Willow St, Waterloo, ON) 7-10 pm.

Specifics

Excelsior Stratford offers group lessons for both adults and youth (ages 9+).

• Youth lessons are 1-2:30 pm on Sundays
• Adult lessons are 7-8:30pm on Tuesdays
• Recreational fencing follows each class time for all fencers
• Experienced fencers should speak to the coaches
• Mini-Fencing (ages 6-9) with specialized plastic weapons and masks is offered on Sundays from 3-4 pm

Program Details

Recreational Fencing

Fencers who have completed a beginner/intermediate level who do not wish to take further group lessons may fence with Excelsior on a recreational basis.  

Competitive Fencing

Our fencers have represented Excelsior in the Ontario Summer Games and compete actively at all levels of the sport. The Competitive team has its own training sessions and access to private lessons. Additional costs, in terms of equipment, travel and in training, are incurred by the members of the competitive team. Entry to the competitive team program is strictly by invitation only.
